Discussion with a Muslim

Message from Muslim

To the neighborhood sharing neighborly love...

Yes I receive one of your cards, and I do know the truth that's there Absolutely One God and Jesus is his messenger and prophet...

I will like you to read the following because their's another messenger that if you truly love God The Almighty as you say you do then don't deprive yourself from more knowledge and that's reading the last words which the Almighty sent to gabriel the angel to the last messenger confirming what was before it and what is to come... his name is Muhammad and here's one of his last sermon's to mankind.

THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD'S LAST SERMON

(This Sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hihhah 10 A.H in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat) Note: Found on the Net, but without source or copyright information. Please contact halsall@muray.fordham.edu if you have information "O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I don't know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you carefully and TAKE THIS WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds. ALLAH has forbidden you to take usury (Interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived...

Beware of Satan, for your safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have right over you. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to commit adultery.

O People, listen to me in earnest, whorship ALLAH, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadhan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. You know that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. YOU ARE ALL EQUAL. NOBODY HAS SUPERIORITY OVER OTHER EXCEPT BY PIETY AND GOOD ACTION. Remember, one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not astray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, NO PROPHET OR APOSTLE WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QUR'AN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me direcly. BE MY WITNESS O ALLAH THAT I HAVE CONVEYED YOUR MESSAGE TO YOUR PEOPLE."

PS: The Quran is written in various languages for your input...

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your kindly effort to present to me what you believe is the truth from God that leads to salvation. I do not resent this effort but consider it an expression of love. I hope you will view my response in the same way. With this in mind, please consider some questions and responses that I honestly, lovingly present.

How do you know this sermon was ever really preached by the Prophet rather than being made up by a later writer who just wrote these words down as if they were those of the Prophet? I am a Christian (cf. The Bible, Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16). The Bible, which calls itself "Scripture" (writings, The Bible, 2 Timothy 3:14-17), and claims to be from God (Ibid), is the source of my faith (The Bible, Romans 10:17). I can present, and will be happy to do so for your benefit, credible, historical evidence to uphold my belief that these books came from God. Again, what evidence is there that the sermon you reproduced for me is even from the Prophet, much less from God?

Your short message and the sermon you sent contain several basic tenets of Islam. I would like to briefly compare them to what the New Testament, the part of the Bible that Christians believe is our standard in this age (The Bible, Hebrews 8:6-13; 9:15), teaches.

Muslims are taught to hold the life of every other Muslim as sacred. Christians are taught to neither hate nor murder anyone (The Bible, Matthew 5:43-48; 1 John 3:15).

Islam teaches that Muslims should return the property of Muslims. Jesus teaches us not to steal (The Bible, Ephesians 4:28), which implies we must return property to any rightful owner, whether Muslim, Christian, Jew, Pagan, Hindu, Buddhist, agnostic, or atheist.

Islam teaches a Muslim man to "treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners." Jesus teaches, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her," and, "So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies" (The Bible, Ephesians 5:24, 28).

Your quote implies what in reality Islam allows, polygamy. Jesus teaches that one man should be married to one woman for life, for "the two shall become one flesh" (The Bible, Matthew 19:3-9).

The Q'uran directs Muslims to say five daily prayers. Christ directs us to "pray without ceasing" (The Bible, 1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Muslims are directed to "fast during the month of Ramadhan." Christians are taught:

Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly (The Bible, Matthew 6:16-18)
Islam teaches, "give your wealth in Zakat" (required charity). Christ teaches, "Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away" (The Bible, Matthew 5:42), and, "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver" (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 9:7).

The Q'uran teaches, "every Muslim si the brother of another Muslim. YOU ARE ALL EQUAL. NOBODY HAS SUPERIORITY OVER OTHER EXCEPT BY PIETY AND GOOD ACTION." Jesus teaches:
You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many (The Bible, Matthew 20:25-28)
He further teaches:
But you, do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father; He who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted (The Bible, Matthew 23:8-12).
Islam teaches, "Remember, one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer for your deeds." Christ teaches:
For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him... Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which al who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth -- those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me (The Bible, John 5:22-23, 28-30).
According to Islam, the Prophet Muhammad claimed, "NO PROPHET OR APOSTLE WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN." But Jesus Christ, whom Muslims recognize as a prophet, claimed, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6).

According to Muslims, the Prophet entreated, "BE MY WITNESS O ALLAH THAT I HAVE CONVEYED YOUR MESSAGE TO YOUR PEOPLE." But the Prophet Muhammad worked on miracles nor gave any logical proof that his message is from God. How has Allah borne witness to him?

Jesus worked more great miracles than His disciples could record, but they recorded many that they themselves witnessed. These miracles are recorded, "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name" (John 20:30-31).

I have read every word of the Q'uran and have a copy in my possession. Have you read the Bible? If you do not have a copy, I will gladly send you one.

If I were to quit being a Christian and become a Muslim, I would forsake the Son of God, whose credentials are attested by credible, logical evidence from God for a self-proclaimed prophet who left no proof of his claims. I would leave the highest moral standard the world has ever known for a much lower standard. Why would I do that?
