Questions from India about Holy Days
Question
I, am Manasseh, 46, Prophet preaching the gospel to the dying souls in India to my level best. We are keeping the Sabbaths and all the Festivals of God since 1989.
I visited your web site which has enlighten me in a deeper way. I am willing to come under the love of God with you as we are His body.
So many Sunday keepers are here and they are teaching Sunday, Christmas, Easter, Lent, January first etc. through the Pamphlets, convocations etc.
But we are unable to print and distribute the tracts about Sabbath and Appointed Times of God to the dying souls at least.
We are going to celebrate Passover, please give us accurate date for that. Some are going to celebrate on 17th night of March, 2011.
When will you celebrate it? We need your co-operation as a part of International Ministry as commanded in Mark 16:15.
We are eagerly waiting for your reply. Thank you. Manasseh, Prophet. India.
Answers
Dear Manasseh,
Greetings from America.
You refer to yourself as a “Prophet.” Prophets were people through whom God revealed His word (Amos 3:7-8). Prophecy was one of the nine spiritual gifts given to Christians in the first century (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). If you are a prophet, you should be telling me the will of God rather than asking me about it. The gift of prophecy ceased when the will of God was completely revealed, by the end of the first century (1 Corinthians 13:8-13).
The Sabbath is part of the Law of Moses that Christ abolished by His death on the cross (Colossians 2:13-17). The first time anyone was ever commanded to keep the Sabbath was when Israel was in the wilderness (Exodus 16:22-26). God made known the Sabbath when He gave the Law on Mt. Sinai (Nehemiah 9:13-14). The Sabbath was to Israel a memorial of their deliverance from Egyptian bondage (Deuteronomy 5:12-15; Ezekiel 20:10,12) and has no more significance to Gentiles than the American Independence Day (July 4th) has to citizens of India.
The entire round of Jewish holy days (“festivals, new moons, Sabbaths”) was abolished by the death of the Savior on the cross (Colossians 2:13-17). We must not be keeping “days and months and seasons and years” (Galatians 4:10-11).
I meet with the church each first day of the week to eat the Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7) in memory of the death of our Lord on the cross (1 Corinthians 11:23-27). Also, the church takes up a collection from its members each first day of the week (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). I do not observe “Christmas, Easter, Lent, January first” or any other day as holy days.
Why will you be celebrating a Jewish feast, Passover, that commemorates Jewish deliverance from Egyptian slavery? (Exodus 12:25-27,42) No Gentile can keep the Passover except slaves of Jews, and even they must be circumcised to eat it (Exodus 12:43-45). Anyone who is circumcised in order to be justified before God is cut off from Christ (Galatians 5:1-4).
I do not see any connection between Mark 16:15 and cooperating with “International Ministry.” The church where I preach and I are endeavoring to take the gospel to the whole world through our web site, www.christistheway.com, which you visited.
I will be happy to study the Bible with you through e-mail.
Sincerely,
Keith Sharp
